The Race to Valhalla

The Stanfield Tigers went to the Foot Race to Valhalla, This meet was located in Umatilla, Oregon. There were about 13 schools that went to this meet and 11 middle schools that were there.

The Tigers had Yahir Coria winning the middle school race with the time of 8:47.8, also for middle school The Tigers had Matthew Dhand placing 52th with a time of 11:32.9.

On the High school side The Tigers had fresman Ayden Cole (18.51.5 11th) then Sr. Israel Mokus ( 19:45.4 24th) right behind him was Sr.Gabriel “Gibs” Mendez ( 20:00.8 25th) Sr. Andrew Thurman ( 20:16.1 30th) Soph. Carter Sharp ( 20:22.8 31st) Sr. Alex Ibarra (20:48.8) Soph Malachi Swanston (20:52.7).

Q: How were you feeling before and after the race?
A: Before: I felt great. I wanted to run a good race. I knew it was going to be rough with the weather. After: I felt down on myself because I didn’t pr. The wind played a major role in this race. It wasn’t for the better. – Israel Monkus

Q: What is your pre-run song and why?
A: 505, it’s just calming and helps me relax before the race. – Israel Monkus

Q: Who inspires you on the cross team?
A: The person that inspires me is Jose Rodelo. He pushes himself to better others. He always has the best energy on the team. -Gabriel Mendez

Q: What’s a personal goal you’ve set for yourself?
