Highlights from the Annual Max Jensen Meet in Richland

Last Saturday the Tigers had a chance to go to a meet they have never attended before. It was the 56th Annual Max Jensen Invitational. There were about 50+ schools that went to this meet and over half of them were Washington Schools.

This meet was located in Richland, Wa. There were over 800 athletes competing at the Junior Varsity and Varsity levels. The Tigers had 1 PR (Personal Record). We had 12 Tigers complete the event. There was one girl and 11 boys, 5 boys were in JV and 7 boys were in Varsity.

Leading the Tigers on the Varsity side was Sr. Gabriel Mendez (19:05.71 97th) behind him was Sr. Israel Monkus (19:07.22 100th) Sr. Andrew Thurman (19:28.74 119th) Jr. Antonio Galindo (19:45.93 125th) Soph. Carter Sharp (19:49.41 130th) Soph. Malachi Swanston (20:14.64 137th) Sr. Alex Ibarra (20:26.23 143rd)

I had a chance to talk to Alex and Antonio

Q: When you see a kid pass you on the 2nd mile what do you do/think?

A: “I think I am going to pass him at all cost.”- Antonio

Q: What’s something you learned from this meet that you’ll use next time?

A: “Push harder, run faster.” -Alex

Q: At the end of the race what do you think/feel?

A: “I think/ know that throughout heaven and earth I alone am the honored one.” – Alex

Q: What’s one thing you want to improve before the next race?

A: “Not caring, caring to much gets in you’re head and won’t run good.”- Antonio
