Mustang Invite XC

The Stanfield Tigers cross country season is nearing its end, with their second-to-last meet taking place in Heppner on October 2nd, 2025, at 3:00 PM. As the finish line of the season approaches, the team comes together and I ask some players their thoughts as a team.

Interview with Carter Sharp – Sophomore Runner

Q: How do you think your team’s performance was during this cross-country season?

Carter Sharp: We’ve been running very well, we’ve been improving almost every single race, so it’s been pretty good and the team chemistry is really good.

Interview with Gabriel Mendez – Team Captain, Senior Runner

Q: As a team captain, how do you feel the chemistry on the team this season has been?

Gabriel Mendez: I think our chemistry is very high. We like being together, we like running together, we like just doing everything together.

Q: How do you think your performance has been this year as you’re finishing up your senior year of cross?

Gabriel Mendez: Better than any other year I’ve ran. It’s my last year, so I’m going to be the best.

As the Stanfield Tigers head into their final meets, it’s clear that their growth as individual runners is matched by their strength as a team. Good team chemistry, as shown by both Carter and Gabriel, isn’t just about getting along—it’s about pushing each other to be better, supporting one another through every race, and creating a bond that turns a group of runners into a true team.
